Better Together - a Coalition to Rebuild WNC

We've formed a coalition committed to rebuilding 300+ homes in the Swannanoa Valley over the next two years.

Now that the dust has settled and the news cycle has shifted to other storms, elections, sporting events, and interest rate decisions, Western North Carolina still needs to be rebuilt. The 90%+ of people whose insurance won’t cover the damages left by Helene need help. The 6,000+ miles of road that were damaged need to be rebuilt. The over 100,000+ homes in WNC alone that were damaged or destroyed by the winds and the waves need to be repaired.

And many hearts need to be made whole.

It is in these types of situations that only sacrificial love will do.

Together with Adventures Relief, Valley Hope Church, Operation Blessing, Mercury One, Why Not, World Vision, United Cajun Navy, and others, we’ve committed to being here until the job is done. That means rebuilding homes and lifting up small businesses all throughout the Swannanoa Valley. And after it’s done, our faculty, staff, and students will be here like we always have, not just volunteering, but being faithful and helpful community members, great employees, and loving neighbors.

We’d love to have you come along on the journey with us.

Helene Holiday Fund

$63,000 poured into the Black Mountain economy through the generosity of donors from all over the nation!

Rebuilding doesn’t just mean rebuilding homes. It means rebuilding the economy, restoring lives, and helping the community thrive again. In WNC, tourism is our lifeblood - especially fall tourism. This year, because of Helene, many businesses missed out on a crucial time of year - right before the tourism drought that is winter. At the same time, many first responders, ministry workers, and disaster workers were tired and in need of a break coming into the holidays.

Thanks to your generosity, we were able to take care of both at the same time. We were able to purchase $63,000 worth of gift cards at local restaurants, cafe’s, and B&B’s that we then distributed to first responders, ministry workers, and disaster workers for some much needed respite during the holidays.

Together we boosted the local economy through the holiday season to keep businesses open, people employed, and our community on the path to thriving again - all while taking care of the people most involved in that process. Thank you.
